Government of India has identified 100 districts all over India under its programme of " BETI BACHAO- BETI PADAO ". These districts are identified on the basis of vexed sex ratio of population. Out of various states in India, State of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and even Delhi are at the lowest ladder of sex ratio, with sex ratio in these States of India being at 874, 863, 883 and 857 respectively against the national average of 908.
What is alarming that in spite of all the efforts and educative programs in this direction, though the total sex ratio from 2001 census has increased from 898 to 912, but the child sex ratio has further deteriorated from 942 in 2001 to 902 in 2011. Thus indicating strongly towards feticide, and poor health care of girl child to give these adverse figures.
In addition to this in education, even at primary level, the boys are taught in Private Schools, whereas girls are sent to Government schools, which in India do not have a very good infrastructure and quality of education. Many times the financial constraints of the middle and poor class families are at work, but this creates a disadvantage for girls in the long run.
The Surevin Foundation Society has been associated/nominated in the " SandarbhSamooh " of " Beti Bachao-Beti Padao " of the Ghaziabad District formed by the District Administration/State Govt of india.
Since each Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalaya has 100 drop out girls from economically and socially weak background, under its project Daughters of Kasturba , Surevin has adopted various Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalayas and provide infrastructure and educational support to them.
Daughters of Kasturba is a Special Project undertaken up by The Surevin Foundation Society in collaboration with Basic Education Department of the district for educational support and Vocational Training of girls of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in various districts of Uttar Pradesh that have been identified at the National Level in Prime Ministers' " Beti Bachao Beti Padao " Program.
